چکیده

An end-to-end round trip time (RTT) is one of the most important communication characteristics for Internet applications. In order to meet the quality of service (QoS) for applications such as streaming services, it is important to understand and predict the delay characteristic accurately. Because characteristics of the packet transmission delay in the Internet vary strongly related to the time-dependent the condition of network. Especially, it is obvious that two or more factors may interfere in observed delay characteristics. We express these delay characteristics by using the mixture of two or more probability distributions (especially normal distribution), not by single distribution. By investigation the factor which infects the delay distribution, we presume the events that occur in network from the delay characteristic obtained by the observation in the end host.

The Exponentiated Lomax – Rayleigh (E-LR) Distribution, Properties and Applications

In this paper a new four-parameter lifetime distribution named “the exponentiated Lomax – Rayleigh (E-LR) distribution” has been suggested that it has an increasing hazard rate for modeling lifetime data. The Lomax distribution has applications in economics, actuarial modelling, reliability modeling, lifetime and queuing problems and biological sciences. In this paper Firstly, the mathematical ...

The Exponentiated Poisson-Lindley Distribution; Features and Applications in Reliability

Abstract. In this paper a new three-parameter lifetime distribution named “the Exponentialed Lindley-Poisson (E-LP) distribution” has been suggested that it has an  increasing, decreasing and invers bathtube hazard rate depending on the parameter values. The (E-LP) distribution has applications in economics, actuarial modeling, reliability modeling, lifetime and queuing problems and biological ...

Modeling Loss and Delay in Multi-tree-based Overlay Multicast

In this paper we propose an analytical model to evaluate the end-to-end loss and delay characteristics for live multicast streaming. We consider multiple-tree architectures and push based transmission. We give an asymptotic bound on the performance of large overlays, and present a necessary condition for the overlay to be stable. Based on the model we show how the overlay’s loss characteristics...

A thorough analysis of the performance of delay distribution models for IEEE 802.11 DCF

Deriving the complete distribution of the end-to-end delay in a wireless multi-hop network is of paramount interest when delay-sensitive flows have to be conveyed over such networks. First works have proposed models to derive the total delay distribution of networks assuming the well-known IEEE802.11 DCF medium access (MAC) protocol. Current derivations can be decomposed into two main steps: (i...

Modeling End-to-End Packet Delay Dynamics of the Internet using System Identification

Understanding the end-to-end packet delay dynamics of the Internet is of crucial importance since (1) it directly affects the QoS (Quality of Services) of realtime applications, and (2) it enables us to design an efficient congestion control mechanism for both realtime and nonrealtime applications. In this paper, we propose a novel approach for modeling the end-to-end packet delay dynamics of t...
